Immersive, with an ending that was different and unexpected but that fit well with the storyline.
Great book, but I do agree with others about the tokenism of Jeri, a genderfluid character. The portrayal of Jeri likely did more harm than good if the author's intent was to positively introduce a new way of experiencing gender. A few well-written lines would have gone a lot further than multiple pages of why Jeri's gender changes (literally) with the weather.
But overall, just a really good story, the characters were deep and well-written, even more peripheral characters like Rand and Tyger. I would have liked to see Goddard's character given more depth (prequel maybe?). But the author really fleshed out an entire world.
